john carpenter's The THing (1982) is one of the best movies ever made. the practical effects alone win everything. the idea of a snowed in wasteland unreaceable and empty is enough, but add in a crew you cannot actually escape (and they cant be rid of you either) with an alien creature whose only instinct, need, drive, is to SURVIVE at any cost? AS any other being necessary? well FUCK!!!!!!!!!
